48 channels can be flexibly assigned to track satellites in single or dual frequency on one, two or three antennas in parallel. One or more antennas can also be used to track SBAS augmentation satellites. It brings precise heading, pitch and roll as well as accurate position and velocity at update rates of up to 10Hz. Raw data can be output for all antennas. An optional module, PLRX_ATT, is available to calculate and output the attitude angles from these measurements. It can be implemented by simple software.
The main antenna is in principle dual-frequency while the auxiliary antennas are single frequency. However, an all single-frequency version is also available in case only heading information and no precise position information is required.
The Septentrio PolaRx2e_SBAS receiver can track the L1 signals from up to 6 SBAS augmentation satellites such as EGNOS and WAAS. This offers your application vital integrity information, increasing the confidence in the positioning solution and allowing application in safety-critical environments. The receiver may also be used either as base station or as rover receiver for differential GPS and RTK. When the SBAS option is installed on the single-antenna version of the PolaRx2e, it will track SBAS satellites by default and will use the SBAS corrections in the optimal way. For the multi-antenna version, SBAS has to be configured manually.
Septentrio has developed a flexible FPGA extension platform to the existing PolaRx2 receiver, PolaRx2C, capable of receiving the coming L2C signals, that are part of the GPS modernisation. An important objective of GPS modernisation is to preserve civil use. The first stage in the GPS modernisation process has started in 2005, with the launch of the first satellite that will transmit civilian signals on the L2 band, called L2C signals. The L2C signals consist out of 2 PRN codes: the CM code and the CL code.
The PolaRx2C architecture results in a very low tracking noise. The design supports active multi-path mitigation, using both CM and CL and features modularity. The advantage of a combined platform, PolaRx2C, is that next to research on the first L2C signals, a complete dual-frequency P(Y) code receiver is offered. The L2C extension has the same high quality measurements (low noise, high sensitivity) as the standard PolaRx2 receiver
